Passing Bad Checks in Columbus
ORC § 2913.11
Defined
- With purpose to defraud,
- Issuing or transferring a check knowing that it will be dishonored or knowing that a person has ordered or will order stop payment on the check.
Potential Consequences
Passing bad checks in Ohio can be anywhere from a misdemeanor of the first degree to a felony of the fourth degree. As such, a conviction of passing bad checks can be penalized with a prison term of up to 18 months in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
