Madison County Court of Common Pleas
After having tried cases in central Ohio since 2000, Funkhouser Law experience benefits clients in other county courts like Madison County Court of Common Pleas.
The Madison County Court of Common Pleas is the trial level court for Madison County, Ohio, hearing criminal felony cases and civil cases as well as juvenile cases and domestic disputes, such as divorce. Here, a defendant can be tried in front of a jury of his or her peers and the penalties can be very serious, so it is crucial to have a strong litigation attorney on your side.
Being a state-run court, all of the judges are elected officials. Currently, there are several judges running separate dockets in the courthouse. Having a strong familiarity with this court and a good understanding of the courts, the lawyers at Funkhouser Law will personally guide clients through every step of the process, keeping them well-informed and protecting them and their rights.
The Arraignment
Before a trial begins, a defendant will receive a letter in the mail to appear at an arraignment. At the arraignment, the judge will simply read the charges brought against the defendant, to which the defendant pleads either guilty or not guilty. Defendants should be present at the arraignment along with their attorney.
