The Whitehall Mayor’s Court located at 360 S. Yearling Road Whitehall, OH 43213, meets every Tuesday starting with check-in starting at 7:30 AM. The City of Whitehall Mayor’s Court hears most of the traffic and misdemeanor offenses that occur within the City of Whitehall including theft, assault, zoning cases, passing bad checks, animal-related cases, tax-related cases, and serious traffic offenses such as OVI/DUI. The Whitehall Mayor’s Court is administered by a Mayor-appointed magistrate who is a licensed attorney.
The charges brought in mayor’s court can be serious with fines ranging from $250 to $10,000, driver’s license suspensions, and/or jail time from 30 to 180 days, so it is important to have experienced legal representation. The Judgment
The Mayor does not preside over the hearing, rather, a mayor-appointed magistrate hears all of the cases brought to court in the Whitehall Mayor’s Court. There is no jury in mayor’s court, however, if one is requested, the case may be transferred to a municipal or county court. Similarly, if a trial is conducted in mayor’s court and the judgement is not favorable, a case may be appealed to a county court within 10 days.
About the Area
Located on the east side of Columbus near the airport, Whitehall is a small suburb of Columbus with a population of 18,062. The city hosts three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school and is bordered on its eastern boundary by the Big Walnut Creek and Columbus Country Club.
