Continuing Legal EducationLawyers have special duties as guardians of the rule of law. As sworn officers of the court, attorneys have legal and professional obligations to uphold the law and maintain a sense of professionalism. To fulfill these obligations, active members of the Ohio bar are required to attend continuing legal education (CLE) classes in order to maintain and further develop their professional skills. Each attorney must complete a total of twenty four hours of CLE courses every two years and is further required to report the completion of these hours to the Supreme Court. CLE courses are an effective tool in assisting an attorney to maintain, expand, and update his or her knowledge and skills. Continuing education is necessary in order to further attorneys’ efforts in staying updated on developments in the law and enhancing their capabilities in selected areas of practice. It is crucial that members of the bar maintain and cultivate their professional competence. Recent Seminars |
